Raymond Joseph Augusterfer III, 80, a resident of Edgewater for over 50 years, died March 27 at the Mandrin Chesapeake Hospice House in Harwood.
He was born June 30, 1929 in Washington, D.C. He graduated from Gonzaga College High School in Washington and attended Villanova University.
After serving in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War, he worked for the York Corporation as a heating and air conditioning equipment sales specialist throughout the Washington, D.C. area, retiring after a 40-year career. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Fleet Reserve Club in Annapolis and the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks #622. He was an avid Redskins fan, enjoyed boating and golf, and, most of all, loved spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Maureen L. Augusterfer who died in 2005; and one brother, John Augusterfer.
Survivors include two sons, Raymond J. Augusterfer IV of Baltimore and Bernard F. Augusterfer of Annapolis; three daughters, Kathleen Augusterfer of Silver Spring, Debra A. Hill of Annapolis and Lori A. McGaha of Edgewater; one brother, Thomas Augusterfer of both Malvern, Pa. and Annapolis; one sister, Patricia Miller of Knoxville, Tenn.; four grandchildren, Jason Hill, Nicholas and Zachary Augusterfer and Erin McGaha; and two great-grandchildren, Ariyanna and Khloe Hill.
Friends are invited to Raymond's Life Celebration from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 30 at at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road in Edgewater. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 31 at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 620 Bestgate Road in Annapolis. Interment in Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Crownsville.
