Edward B. McAllister, 85, a founding partner of the Rockville-based
public accounting firm Goodman and McAllister, died April 7 at Suburban
Hospital in Bethesda after a heart attack. He had recently moved to
Kensington from Bethesda.
Mr. McAllister spent his early career at Washington area accounting firms.
He and Donald Goodman founded their public accounting firm in Bethesda in
1964 and moved it to Rockville in 1996. Mr. McAllister retired in 2003.
Edward Basil McAllister was born in Riverdale and grew up in
Washington. He was a 1943 graduate of Gonzaga College High School in
Washington and a 1950 graduate of the University of Maryland. He served in
the Army in Italy during World War II.
He was a former Boy Scout master and choir member at Holy Redeemer
Catholic Church in Kensington. In Kensington’s Rock Creek Palisades
neighborhood, Mr. McAllister helped found Pleasant View Swimming Pool
and organized cherry tree plantings. He was a former official with the
Montgomery County GOP.
He enjoyed cycling on area trails.Survivors include his wife of 61 years,
Tania Perry McAllister of Kensington; three children, Tessa McAllister of
Kensington, Lisa McAllister of Silver Spring and John McAllister of Bethesda;
a sister, Betty Tuel of Gaithersburg; a granddaughter; and a great-grandson.
