Daniel W. Inabinett, 87, a retired director of training for the Federal Railroad
Administration, died June 17 at Holy Cross Hospital in Silver Spring. He had a
stroke.
Mr. Inabinett joined the railroad agency in 1971 and was responsible for
training field inspectors. He helped develop the railroad program at the
Department of Transportation's Transportation Institute in Oklahoma City. He
retired in 1986.
Daniel William Inabinett was born in Charleston, S.C., and moved to
Washington as a child. He was a graduate of Gonzaga College High School
and served in the Army Signal Corps during World War II. In 1950, he
received a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from Catholic University.
He was an engineer and program manager for Engineering and Research
Corp. from 1950 to 1971.
Mr. Inabinett, a Silver Spring resident, was active in Gonzaga alumni affairs
and was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Community in Silver
Spring.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Mary Smith Inabinett of Silver Spring;
three daughters, Denise Boor of Radford, Va., Susan Clark of Ijamsville and
Mary Elizabeth "Beth" Inabinett of Chevy Chase; eight grandchildren; and
two great-granddaughters.
