Maryann M. Gerard

   Maryann M. Gerard, 82, a federal employee who worked for various agencies before retiring in 1997 as a part-time administrator with the Environmental Protection Agency, died Jan. 16 at Leewood Healthcare Center in Annandale of complications from pneumonia.

   Mrs. Gerard, an Annandale resident, started working for the Agriculture Department in the mid-1960s in the personnel department. She later worked for the National Endowment for the Arts as a research specialist.

   Maryann Macpherson was a native Washingtonian and a 1944 graduate of  Woodrow Wilson High School. She received a bachelor's degree in English from the University of Wisconsin at Madison in 1948.

   Her marriage to Gerald G. Gerard ended in divorce.

   Survivors include two daughters, Joan G. Hurtado and Dale G. Richard, both of Sterling; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
