Stephen Augustus Simpson (Steve), 78, of Mechanicsville,
MD, passed away September 7, 2013 at Georgetown
University Hospital, Washington, DC. Born December 8,
1934 in Washington, DC, he was the son of Augustine L.
Simpson and Ruby Mavars Simpson.
Steve served in the U.S. Navy and then worked for many
years as a Chief Engineer for Safeway at their Ice Cream Plant.
Steve enjoyed fishing, waterfowl, duck carving shows, taking care of his yard and doing
home improvements. He was involved with Little League and Youth Football in the
Southern Maryland region.
Predeceased by his parents.
Steve is survived by his wife, Shirley; sons Wayne A. Simpson of Cary, NC and Chris L.
Simpson (Nicole) of Hollywood, MD, his grandson, Austin "AJ" J. Simpson and brother,
Charles H. Simpson of Spotsylvania, VA.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 12, 2013 from 2:00-4:00p.m.
and 7:00 - 9:00p.m. at Brinsfield-Echols Funeral Home, P.A., 30195 Three Notch Rd.,
Charlotte Hall, MD 20622. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, September 13,
2013 at 11:00a.m. at Brinsfield-Echols. Interment will be private.
