Mitzi Neidlinger Scruggs

Mitzi Scruggs, 85, who did secretarial work at Bowie State University in the 1970s,
died March 7 at Harmony Hall nursing home in Columbia after a heart attack.

Mrs. Scruggs did secretarial work at the Navy Department during World War II and the
National Institutes of Health in the 1950s. She was a longtime resident of Scotland, in
St. Mary's County, before she moved to Columbia in 1995.

Mitzi Neidlinger was born in Danville, Va., and spent her childhood in Springfield, Ga.,
and in Washington. She was a
1942 graduate of Eastern High School.

Her memberships included Linden-Linthicum United Methodist Church in Clarksville,
the Order of the Eastern Star and the Georgia Salzburger Society, an ancestral
organization.

Her husband of 58 years, Wallace L. Scruggs Sr., died in 2002.
Survivors include three children, Wallace L. Scruggs Jr. of Columbia, Monica Pearre
of Germantown and Mitzi Lee Scruggs of Riva; a sister, Barbara Joy of Bowie; and six
grandchildren
