Margaret Jane Spalding Rivest

Margaret "Jane" Rivest, age 88, a ten year resident of Riderwood Village in Silver
Spring, MD and formerly of the Heritage Harbour and Baywoods communities in
Annapolis, MD and District Heights, MD, passed away peacefully on March 11, 2015.

Born in Washington, D.C. on April 3, 1926 to the late Daniel J. and Margaret V.
Chisholm Spalding Webster, Jane attended
Eastern High School, graduating in
1944. From 1943 to 1950, she worked for the U. S. War Department in the Office of
Censorship and with the Reconstruction Finance Corporation. She also attended
night school at Benjamin Franklin University.

Jane married her life partner, Albert in August of 1947 in Washington, D.C. and while
raising a family was involved with Girl Scout and Boy Scout programs, the Prince
George's County Summer Parks & Recreation programs and was an avid league
bowler. In the mid 1970's she worked for the Prince George's County Government
and later as an administrative aide in the Office of the County Executive until her
retirement in 1988.

In her early retirement years, she enjoyed playing golf. In addition to her parents, Jane
was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Albert H. Rivest, who died in
November 1984 and her brother Daniel J. Spalding, Jr.

She is survived by her children, Pamela J. (John) Koday of Edgewater, MD and
Jeffrey A. (Michelle) Rivest of Columbia, MD; grandchildren, Kellie M. (Tom) Caldwell
of West Grove, PA, Kevin J. (Julie) Rivest of Falls Church, VA and Casey E. Rivest of
Columbia, MD; great-grandchildren, Bridget and Julia Caldwell, Dane and Kaelyn
Rivest; sisters, Theresa Eickenberg of Mesa, AZ and Elaine Reed of McKinleyville,
CA and nieces and nephews.

Friends are invited to Jane's Life Celebration from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8pm on Friday,
March 20 at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Rd.,
Edgewater, MD.

Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 9 am on Saturday March 21 at St. Mary's
Catholic Church in Annapolis, MD.

Interment will be private.
