HELEN Y. STEVENS
November 21, 1918 - November 24, 2017
Helen Y. Stevens of Ormond Beach, Florida passed away
peacefully November 24, 2017. A visitation and funeral
service will be held in her honor Saturday December 9,
2017 at 12:30 p.m. until time of funeral service 1:30 p.m.
at the Fort Lincoln Funeral Home and Cemetery, 3401
Bladensburg Road, Brentwood, MD 20722. She will be
laid to rest next to her late husband, George Stevens.
Helen grew up in Washington, DC and spent her retirement life living in Florida. She
graduated from Eastern High School (1935) and went on to have a successful
professional life at Pepco, Marriott Corporation and the World Bank. She concluded
her career as the Executive Assistant to the Deputy Superintendent of the Prince
Georges County, Maryland Education System.
Helen will be remembered for her international travel with her sister and never missed
a domestic bus trip to one of her favorite places. She was an avid enthusiast for card
playing, bingo, and games at The Falls Community Clubhouse.
Helen will be sadly missed by her sister, Doris Robey; daughter and son-in law,
Candace and Jim Flyzik; granddaughter, Kimberly Harrington; great grandchildren
Jack and Chase Harrington; three step-grandchildren; five step-great- grandchildren
and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brothers,
Alfred and Alton (Buzzy) Young.
The family would like to especially thank her caregivers, Joni, Karen, Esther, Star, and
Sabrina for all their loving care.
