Helen Earnshaw Gould Abner passed away Monday, April 11, 2011 in Centreville, Md.
Born August 2, 1913 in Washington, D.C., she was the daughter of the late, Frank and Lottie Mae Keller. She graduated from Eastern High School, Washington, DC, Class of 1931. Mrs. Abner then attended Woods Commercial School in Business Education and then attended George Washington University, Washington, DC. She married Dr. Vincent Gould in 1934. He passed away in 1956. She married Edward Abner in 1959. He passed away in 1968. She had resided in a number of communities, including Beverly Beach, Annapolis and Centreville, MD.
She was selected as "Woman of the Year" by the Anne Arundel Chapter of Insurance Women in 1977. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star District of Columbia, Chapter #2 and Annapolis Chapter #46. She played the organ and served a ministry for St. Andrew the Fisherman Episcopal Church in Mayo, MD. She loved the Lord and tried to serve him throughout her life.
Helen is survived by her two sons, Alan Gould of West Point, UT, and Earnest Gould of Denton, MD; 11 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her sister, Jean and her brothers, John and William.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 14, 2011 at 11:00 AM at St. Andrew the Fisherman Episcopal Church in Mayo, MD where the family will receive relatives and friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at the Mayo United Methodist Church Cemetery, Mayo, MD.
