Esther Catherine Rowley Boyer


Esther Catherine Rowley Boyer, 95, a Washington native who held federal positions
with the Government Printing Office and at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, died of a
stroke Jan. 28, 2006 at Rockville Nursing Home.

She had lived in Silver Spring for more than 60 years.

Mrs. Boyer was born in the District and graduated from
Eastern High School (1928).

She began her career with the Government Printing Office in the 1930s

After taking time off to raise her son, she worked in the mid-1950s at the Nan Richards
and Yeager's dress shops in Silver Spring. From 1965 until her retirement in 1975, she
directed the Western Union office at Walter Reed.

Beginning in the early 1980s, she volunteered for more than 10 years at the Margaret
Schweinhaut Senior Center in Silver Spring.

Her husband of 51 years, Leo W. Boyer, died in 1981.

Survivors include a son, Brian Boyer of Bethesda
