DAVID PRESTON GRIMES  









On Tuesday morning, June 7, 2016, David Preston Grimes of Alexandria, VA, passed
away at Mt. Vernon Hospital surrounded by his loving wife and family.

Born in Altavista, VA, on December 23, 1932 to James Button and Pearl Elizabeth
Grimes.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Mary Helen Grimes
(AHS 1951), daughters Lisa
and Lauren (Armand), son David (Valerie), and grandchildren Cameron, Matthew
(Victoria), Taylor, John Stone, Leanna and Jacob.

David enlisted in the Navy in 1952 and served aboard the U.S.S. Robert H. McCard.

He attended Mars Hill College and graduated from George Washington University in
1961, B.S., 1974, M.S.. Soon after, he began a long and rewarding career in the F.B.I.
as a Special Agent and Forensic Scientist.

His greatest passion was his family and his greatest joy came from spending time with
his children and grandchildren. Dave was a member of Plymouth Haven Baptist Church,
Society of Former Special Agents of the F.B.I., the SAR, and the American Legion.

A Memorial Service celebrating his life will be held on Saturday June 11th, at 12 Noon,
at Plymouth Haven Baptist Church, 8600 Plymouth Road Alexandria, VA, with a
visitation preceding the service at 11:00 AM.

Private internment at a later date.

Helen & Dave met at Capitol Hill Metropolitan Baptist Church at 6th & A Sts. N. E.
Washington, D.C. & was married there.

Dave had brothers:  Bill, Syd & other brother. Bill & Syd became pators.

Helen & Dave attended the last Eastern High School Reunion held at Myrtle Beach, S.C,
in 2013.
