Angelina "Angie" Vasco Sepe
June 24, 1924 - April 20, 2016
Born in Washington, DC
Resided in Annandale, Virginia
Angie was born to Pasquale and Maria Vasco on June 24, 1924 in Washington, D.C.,
joining a family of seven older brothers and sisters. Their father, a 32nd degree Mason
and founding member of the Italian Redeemer Baptist Church, owned a plastering
company; his work still can be seen today on several major federal buildings.
Angie’s childhood hobbies included ice skating and horseback riding in Rock Creek
Park. Her goal was to become a professional secretary.
After graduating from Eastern High School in 1942, she worked for a D.C. law firm
before marrying Lawrence Lippolis in 1946. They eventually moved to Suitland,
Maryland, where Angie worked as a secretary at the Census Bureau and later as an
Executive Secretary at the Sea Grants Office of the National Oceanic and
Atmospheric Administration. Her marriage ended in divorce after 15 years. Her
marriage to Paris Sepe left her a widow in 1977.
After retiring from Federal Service, Angie worked several years as a secretary at the
law firm of Arent Fox in D.C. She eventually moved to Clinton, Maryland, where she
and her beloved companion Jim Bush enjoyed touring the country in their RV until he
passed away in 1990.
Angie lived in Upper Marlboro until 2014, when she moved to Annandale, Virginia to
be closer to her son and his family. In the fall of 2017, Angie moved to the BrightView
Woodburn Senior Living Facility in Annandale, where she passed away peacefully in
her sleep on April 20, 2018.
Angie loved socializing and was a member of the Beta Gamma Phi Sorority (founded
in D.C. in 1923), the National Association of Retired Federal Employees, the Southern
Maryland Senior Widows Club, the St John’s Lunch Bunch, and the Sassy Surratt Red
Hat Club. After retirement, Angie traveled extensively throughout the United States,
and eventually visited England, Italy, and Spain. An avid cat lover, Angie also enjoyed
the opera and dining out with friends. For years she continued the family tradition of
making incredible Italian desserts for holidays along with delicious cheesecakes and
lemon meringue pies.
Angie is survived by her son Larry and his wife Susan, three granddaughters, two
great-granddaughters, and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews
living throughout the United States.
There will be a Memorial Service celebrating Angie’s life on May 12, 2018 at 11 AM,
