Alice Elvira Crump Gehl
February 11, 1936 - September 8, 2019

Alice E. Gehl (Crump) passed away peacefully in her home on September 8, 2019
following a courageous fight against pancreatic cancer. On a beautiful Sunday
morning she joined the open arms of the Lord, her father Robert B Crump, mother
Anita Theresa (Granai); several of her brothers, sisters and extended family.

Alice is survived by her brothers, John Rinaldi Jr., and Adam C. Rinaldi; her children,
Elizabeth J. Gehl (John), Rebecca A. Gehl, Jeanne M. Brown (Harold) and Donald C.
Gehl (Kathryn); four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; as well as a daughter
taken under her wing over forty years ago, Jane Curtis and numerous nieces, nephews
and family.

Born, February 11, 1936, a native Washingtonian, graduate of
Eastern High School
(1954).

Air Force wife, career civil servant, 35 year breast cancer survivor, avid dancer who
also loved to cruise, play bingo, dominos, slots and always enjoyed her Maryland crab
soup.

Alice retired from Department of Defense – she especially enjoyed her time with SDIO
– Strategic Defense Initiative and the Ronald Reagan Administration. Alice never met
a stranger and her home never had a closed door, hosting airmen and women who
were away from home during holidays, always making them feel a part of the family.

Once she retired from the government she worked for several private firms and most
notably held positions as church secretary and real estate agent. She was a proud
friend of Charlton Heston and all that he supported including the Ronald Reagan
administration, Strategic Defense and NRA.

Alice was a lifetime member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW Post 7327. She
served on the Advisory Council of the Kingstowne Center for Active Adults and
represented Kingstowne at the Fairfax County Senior Citizens Council and Friends of
Fairfax County Senior Centers. Alice tirelessly supported these organization’s
charitable and fundraising drives.

The family would like to thank the Capital Caring Hospice Services for their excellent
care and continuing consideration, with special recognition to Chaplain Cary E.
Johnson, who will lead the service at Alice’s request.

Alice’s wish is that you consider donations in her name to Ronald Reagan Presidential
Foundation & Institute @
www.reaganfoundation.org or The VFW Auxiliary Post 7327,
