Viola 'Betty' B. Sorrell, 89, a resident of Deale for 30 years and previously of University Park, died of congestive heart failure Dec.
20 at her home.
Mrs. Sorrell was born Sept. 6, 1919, in Washington, D.C., to the late Albert I. and Viola E. Bullock. She graduated from Eastern
High School.
She worked at the FBI Headquarters in the Identification Division prior to raising her family.
She was a member of St. James Episcopal Church in Lothian. She loved baseball and football and was an avid Washington
Senators and Redskins fan, animals, especially Irish Setters, and playing bridge.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Dr. Albert E. Bullock.
Survivors include her husband since 1941, W. Byron Sorrell; one son, John B. Sorrel of Edgewater; one daughter, Joan E.
Sorrell of Edgewater; two grandsons, Samuel J. Worsham of Edgewater and Christian B. Worsham of Shadyside; and two
great-granddaughters, Grace and Faith Worsham, both of Shadyside.
Family and friends are invited to a celebration of her life from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Dec. 26 at George P. Kalas Funeral
Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road in Edgewater. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. James Parish, 5757
Solomons Island Road in Lothian. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
