| Thomas Henry DeRieux, 86, who retired in the 1980s from the Naval Research Laboratory, where he did research and development work on fusion reactions and other experiments, died May 9 at Goodwin House Bailey's Crossroads in Falls Church. He had a heart ailment. | ||||||
| Mr. DeRieux was a native Washingtonian and a 1939 graduate of Eastern High School. After Navy service in the Pacific during World War II, he began working as a civilian with physicists at the Navy Department. | ||||||
| He was a member of the Masons and Providence-Fort Washington United Methodist Church. He moved to Goodwin House from Fort Washington in 2005. | ||||||
| His wife, Lucille Pence DeRieux, whom he married in 1949, died in 1984. | ||||||
| Survivors include three sons, Thomas L. DeRieux of Waldorf, Walter DeRieux of Arlington and David DeRieux of King George, Va.; 13 grandchildren; and a great-grandson. | ||||||
