Thomas H. DeRieux
Thomas Henry DeRieux, 86, who retired in the 1980s from the Naval Research Laboratory, where he did research and development work
on fusion reactions and other experiments, died May 9 at Goodwin House Bailey's Crossroads in Falls Church. He had a heart ailment.
Mr. DeRieux was a native Washingtonian and a 1939 graduate of Eastern High School. After Navy service in the Pacific during World War II,
he began working as a civilian with physicists at the Navy Department.
He was a member of the Masons and Providence-Fort Washington United Methodist Church. He moved to Goodwin House from Fort
Washington in 2005.
His wife, Lucille Pence DeRieux, whom he married in 1949, died in 1984.
Survivors include three sons, Thomas L. DeRieux of Waldorf, Walter DeRieux of Arlington and David DeRieux of King George, Va.; 13
grandchildren; and a great-grandson.
