Russell Clicker

Our Dad, Russell Clickner died on Sept 21, 2001 just ten days after the
Twin Towers Incident on 9/11/01.

Our dad was very involved in the NASA Space program even going
back into the era before NASA which was the NACA group (National
Advisory Committee for Aeronautics).  NACA officially became NASA
with 8,000 employees in 1958.

As kids we grew up with astronauts for dinner guests......an amazing
inside view of the space beyond our world and what it took to get "there".
I bet his class mates never expected his future would bring him to the final
frontier......Daddy had an amazing life and we remain very proud of his
work with NASA.

Dad retired from NASA and opened a coin/stamp shop in Clear Lake
near the Johnson Space Center.....his particular expertise was ancient
coins--infact, to my knowledge he was renowned throughout the USA as
the man to see when it comes to ancient coins.....oddly enough, when I
went to appraise his personal collection I was referred to him (they didn't
realize he had died).  Our mom passed away in 1988.....He continued to
live and operate his business until he he passed very abruptly at the age of
77 after a coughing spell which ruptured a blood vessel in his lung and he
bled out in the emergency room before they could identify the problem.
(The hospital was within blocks but these things are very quick).  His body
is at rest with our mother's on Long Island, in Bethpage, NY.
