Raymond C. Roberts Jr., 82, a captain in the District of Columbia Fire Department, died May 10 at Vantage House in Columbia. He had
Parkinson's disease.
He was born in the District, and graduated from Eastern High School. He served in the Navy during World War II. After his discharge, Mr.
Roberts joined the city fire department, where his father later became chief. He retired in 1973 and briefly worked for the Army Corps of
Engineers.
Mr. Roberts enjoyed boating and bowling.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Peggy L. Roberts of Columbia; a son, Raymond C. Roberts III of Clarksville; a brother, Robert K.
Roberts of Ridge, Md.; and two granddaughters.
