Mildred 'Millie' Burton

Mildred Millie Burton, 82, a co-owner and manager of a family landscaping business, died after a stroke July 4 at Montgomery General
Hospital in Olney.
Mrs. Burton and her husband, Robert, founded Robert E. Burton and Sons Landscape Contractors in Hyattsville in 1971. The business
name later changed to Mount Oak Tree Farm and moved to Mitchellville. Mrs. Burton was instrumental in keeping the books and managing
the office for 20 years.
In 1997, she moved to Leisure World in Silver Spring and became active in the Fun and Fancy theater group. She enjoyed swimming and
gardening and had been a member of the Moose Lodge and American Legion.
Born in Youngstown, Ohio, she moved to Washington during the Depression. She graduated from Eastern High School in 1941 and
worked as a clerk for Western Union. She married in 1946 and was a homemaker until starting the family business.
Her husband died in 1990.
Survivors include seven children, Charles Buck  Burton of Port Republic, Timothy Burton and Thomas Burton, both of Arlington, Catherine
Burton-Gates of Raleigh, N.C., Carole Burton Sox of Columbia, S.C., and Michael Burton and Robert Burton, both of Pasadena; a brother; a
sister; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
