Mary Lee O'Neal Chatrnuck

  Mary Lee O'Neal Chatrnuck, 81, who served as administrative support for six  presidents, died of complications of heart surgery March 3 at Washington  Adventist Hospital in Takoma Park. She was a former resident of Montpelier and  lived most recently in Riderwood Village in Silver Spring.
  Mrs. Chatrnuck began working for the federal government in 1962, under  President John F. Kennedy, and held positions in the National Security Council  and the Office of Science and Technology Policy in the Executive Office of the  President. She retired in 1987 during the Reagan administration.
  She was born in Philippi, W.Va., and moved to Washington in 1942. She was a  graduate of  Eastern High School. She graduated from George  Washington University in 1960 with a bachelor's degree in zoology.
  She actively supported Colonial Williamsburg Foundation and her college sorority, Delta Zeta. She was a member of the board of ATLAS Charitable Corp. in  Laurel and a past president of the Montpelier Community Association.
  She enjoyed playing bridge and reading historical novels. She was a member of  the Riderwood Village Church.
  Her husband, Stephen Chatrnuck, whom she married in 1949, died in 1995.
Survivors include a sister.
