JOSEPH BOYD MURDOCK Joseph Boyd Murdock, 88, of Richmond,
formerly of Silver Spring MD and Rehoboth Beach DE, died peacefully
June 17, 2010 while vacationing with family and friends in Corolla, NC.

Born and raised in Washington, DC, son of Joseph H. and Anna
Murdock, he graduated from
Eastern High School and attended George
Washington University.

He served in the US Navy on a destroyer escort in the South Pacific
during WWII as Chief Yeoman and was called back to serve in the
Atlantic Fleet during the Korean War.

He was married for 62 years to Jean E. Lee who died in 2005.

After his Naval tours of duty, he was a Personnel Officer at the Army
Map Service in Bethesda, MD and at NOAA in Rockville, MD.

He retired to Rehoboth Beach, DE in 1980 to be near the ocean. He
moved to Richmond in 2000 to be closer to family.

He was preceded in death by sons Timothy D. Murdock and Michael S.
Murdock, Sr, and grandson Troy D. Murdock.

He is survived by children Thomas L. Murdock and wife Jeanne of
Beverly MA; Susan M. Brenzovich and husband William Sr. of
Mechanicsville VA; daughter-in-law Diane Murdock of Frederick, MD;
grandchildren Michael Murdock, Joseph Brenzovich, William
Brenzovich, Jr, Kathryn Murdock, Jennifer Brenzovich O''Donnell, and
Christine Murdock Mens; and four great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 3, 2010 at 2 p.m. in the
Commons of Westminster Canterbury, 1500 Westbrook Drive,
Richmond VA 23227.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Trinity
Lutheran Church, 2315 Parham Road, Richmond, VA 23229, or to
Westminster Canterbury.
