| James Roy Hagemeyer, 76, a retired NASA electronics technician, died Jan. 31 of a heart attack at his daughter's home in Brunswick, Ga. He lived in Bowie. |

| Mr. Hagemeyer, who went by Roy, was born in Washington and graduated from Eastern High School, where he was a member of the glee club. He attended the University of Maryland, then served in the Army during the Korean War. |
|
| He was working at the Naval Research Laboratory when he was assigned to the newly formed NASA in 1958. He worked on the payloads of experimental rockets until his retirement in 1986. |
|
|
| Mr. Hagemeyer was a member of the Elks and Veterans of Foreign Wars, and he attended Christian Community Presbyterian Church in Bowie. |
|
|
He was a past president of a community association in Ocean City, where he had a second home. A son, James Roy Hagemeyer Jr., died in 2005. |
|
| Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Peggy Loving Hagemeyer of Bowie; two children, John V. Hagemeyer of Whidbey Island, Wash., and Sherri Trudeau of Brunswick; a sister, Margery Patten of Owings; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. |
