Esther Catherine Rowley Boyer, 95, a Washington native who held federal positions with the Government Printing Office and at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, died of a stroke Jan. 28 at Rockville Nursing Home. She had lived in Silver Spring for more than 60 years. |

| Mrs. Boyer was born in the District and graduated from Eastern High School. She began her career with the Government Printing Office in the 1930s |

| After taking time off to raise her son, she worked in the mid-1950s at the Nan Richards and Yeager's dress shops in Silver Spring. From 1965 until her retirement in 1975, she directed the Western Union office at Walter Reed. |

|
| Beginning in the early 1980s, she volunteered for more than 10 years at the Margaret Schweinhaut Senior Center in Silver Spring. |
|
|
| Her husband of 51 years, Leo W. Boyer, died in 1981. |
|
|
| Survivors include a son, Brian Boyer of Bethesda |
