Elmer L. Buddy Gibson, 79, a retired refrigeration mechanic, died Feb. 25, 2006 of pneumonia at Waldorf Healthcare Center in
Waldorf. He had been a Clinton resident for more than 30 years.
Mr. Gibson was born in Jersey City. His family moved to Washington when he was a child, and he attended St. Dominic's
Catholic School and Eastern High School. He left school to join the Army in 1944. He served in Europe and received the Good
Conduct Medal.
He also underwent cadre training and instruction in refrigeration.
After his discharge in 1946, he was a union pipe coverer and a refrigeration mechanic at Andrews Air Force Base. He retired in
1991 and taught refrigeration part time at Prince George's Community College.
He and his wife, Patricia Mozingo Gibson, belonged to the Southwest Club and held yearly summer crab fests at their home in
Clinton.
Mr. Gibson's wife died in 1998.
Survivors include a daughter, Linda Gibson Woods of Clinton; and a brother.
