 Elizabeth “Babe” Kihn, 87, who worked at the
Interior Department from the early 1940s until
retiring from an administrative job in the late 1970s,
died April 6 at Inova Mount Vernon Hospital in Fairfax County. She had a
perforated bowel.

 Mrs. Kihn, an Alexandria resident, spent a few years doing secretarial
work for the National Rifle Association after leaving federal service. She
also competed in NRA-sponsored shooting contests.

 Elizabeth Alley grew up in Washington and was a 1939 graduate of
Eastern High School.

 Her memberships included the Order of the Eastern Star.

 Her husband, Clarence “Clay” Kihn, died in 1999. She had no immediate
survivors.

                           ELIZABETH KIHN "Babe"  

Elizabeth (Babe) Kihn passed away quietly at
the Inova Mt. Vernon Hospital on April 6, 2011. Her
loving husband, Clarence (Clay) Kihn had pre-deceased her in 1999.

She was a lifelong resident of the Washington Area and had lived at the
same address in Alexandria since 1974. Her brother and four sisters had all
previously passed away. She was the last of her generation. She was a
graduate of
Eastern High School in Washington, DC and started working
for the Interior Department at the age of 19. She retired from there at the
age of 55 and enjoyed the next 32 years of retirement.

After retiring, she worked for the National Rifle Association (she was an
award winning Markswoman) and volunteered at Inova Mt. Vernon
Hospital. She played many good games of pool with her friends. She was a
member of the Order of the Eastern Star, the Tall Cedars of Lebanon and
enjoyed playing with Clancy as a Kena Klown.

She donated her body to the Georgetown School of Medicine. In lieu of
flowers, please make donations to either the Shiners Hospital for Children
or the Groveton Baptist Church.

A Celebration of her life will be held at the Groveton Baptist Church,
6511 Richmond Hwy., Alexandria, VA 22306 on Saturday, May 28, 2011
from 1 to 3 p.m.
