Dorothy G. Chappelear

Dorothy G. Chappelear, 90, a homemaker and church member, died of congestive heart failure Dec. 18 at Companion Assisted
Care in Silver Spring. She was a District resident.
Mrs. Chappelear was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church in Silver Spring and volunteered for the Girl Scouts.
She was a native Washingtonian who graduated from  Eastern High  School. She married in 1940 and moved with her
husband, a special agent in  the FBI, to New York and Detroit, then back to Washington. Mrs. Chappelear  enjoyed traveling on
freighters and spending winters in Costa Rica.
A talented seamstress and exceptional cook, she set a primary goal of seeing  that everyone was happy, her family said.
Survivors include her husband of 67 years, George W. Chappelear of  Washington; two daughters, Patricia Simms of Raleigh,
N.C., and Susan Keleher of  Washington; two grandsons; and a great-granddaughter.
