Doris L. Cummings
Doris L. Cummings, 71, a former loan officer, died Jan. 2 of cancer at Suburban Hospital in Bethesda. She had lived in Rockville until moving to Pembroke, N.C., in 2001.
Mrs. Cummings worked as an independent loan officer for the last 10 years of her career before retiring in 2000. She was a member of the Maryland Mortgage Banking Association.
She was affectionately called Mrs. C and Mama C and was known by family and friends for her tasty spaghetti. She loved to shop and decorate her home, especially for holidays.

She was born in Pembroke and came to the Washington area in 1943. She graduated from Eastern High School and then attended Pembroke University, where she played basketball.
Survivors include her husband of 47 years, Stacy Cummings Sr. of Pembroke; five children, Deborah Boutelis of Silver Spring, Stacy Cummings Jr. of Virginia Beach, Steven Cummings of Ijamsville, Stewart Cummings of Adamstown and Spencer Cummings of Urbana; her mother, Cammie Lowry of Wheaton; two sisters; three brothers; 14 grandchildren; and a great-grandson.
