Donald L. Smith

Donald L. Smith Sr., 73, an air-conditioning and refrigeration mechanic for R&M Air Conditioning Co. from 1958 to 1983, died Nov. 2 at
Anne Arundel Medical Center. He had congestive heart failure and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.

Mr. Smith worked for R&M first in Washington and then in Rockville, where the company moved in the early 1970s. He worked from 1983 to
2004 for the John G. Webster heating, cooling and plumbing company, based in the District.

Donald Lee Smith was born in Staunton, Va., and grew up in Washington, where he attended
Eastern High School. He lived in Lothian, in
Anne Arundel County.

Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Trudy Thompson Smith of Lothian; three children, Donald L. Smith Jr. of San Angelo, Tex., Ronald G.
Smith of Lothian and Lisa Chauncey of Silver Spring; twin siblings, Thomas W. Smith and Rosalie Sneeringer, both of Mechanicsville, Md.;
four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
