Demitri E. Nader, 81, who spent about 40 years as a salesman for Capital Cigar & Tobacco Co. until retiring in the 1990s, died
Aug. 12 at Tate House hospice in Linthicum. He had salivary gland cancer.
While working for Capital Cigar & Tobacco, Mr. Nader also had a second career with Washington Fireworks Co., supplying
fireworks to local stand operators for July Fourth celebrations.
He was also part owner of a pyrotechnics company, staging and producing fireworks displays. He made several trips to China
and Taiwan to help select fireworks used in professional shows and for retail sales.
After retirement, he was a part-time assistant for local travel companies.
Demitri Edward Nader, whose parents were Lebanese immigrants, was born in Washington and graduated from Eastern High
School in 1945.
His memberships included St. George Antiochian Orthodox Christian Church in Washington, the Masons and the American
Legion. He was a Greenbelt resident.
His marriage to Doris Meadows Nader ended in divorce.
Survivors include a daughter, Susan A. Earman of Colonial Beach, Va.; a son, Steven A. Nader of Santa Cruz, Calif.; and a
granddaughter.
