Daniel Frank Wallingsford, 70, who owned and operated Data-Wares Inc., a Waldorf-based data processing company, died July
12 at his home in Port Tobacco.
A spokeswoman for the Maryland medical examiner's office said tests were pending to determine the cause of death.
Mr. Wallingsford started Data-Wares in 1978, and his clients included the National Geographic Society, Xerox, Pepco and
various federal agencies. He retired in 2003.
He was born in Washington, attended Eastern High School and later received a general equivalency diploma. He graduated in
1963 from the University of Maryland.
He served in the Marine Corps from 1953 to 1959 and spent the 1960s developing automated computer systems for the
Defense Department's Military Traffic Management and Terminal Service.
In the early 1970s, he was president of a data-processing subsidiary of Maryland National Bank.
His marriage to Evelyn Gray "Mickey" Wallingsford ended in divorce.
Survivors include his wife of 32 years, Christine Cheslosky Wallingsford of Port Tobacco; three children from the first marriage,
Daniel F. Wallingsford Jr. and Denise Bier, both of Fairfax County, and Michelle Hart of Springfield; a brother, Robert
Wallingsford of Welcome; and eight grandchildren.
