Carolyn Essex Howell

Carolyn Essex Howell, 80, a homemaker, died April 11 at the Hospice of the Upstate in Anderson, S.C. She had Alzheimer's disease.
A third-generation Washingtonian, Mrs. Howell graduated from  Eastern High School in 1944 and the following year married and moved to North Carolina. She later moved to Greenville, S.C.
She was a member of Holly Tree Country Club of Greenville and Fox Run Country Club in Fountain Inn, S.C.
Survivors include her husband, David & Dixie Howell of Greenville; two sons, Terry M. Howell of Manahawkin, N.J., and William Hubalek of Greenville; five sisters, Rita Molyneaux of  Wheaton, Elizabeth Derwent of Annapolis, Patricia Meagher of Rockville, Anne Phillips of Bowie and Joan Gulielmino of Santa Barbara, Calif.; three brothers, George Essex of Craig, Colo., Richard Essex of Willingboro, N.J., and David Essex of Graham, Wash.
