Bertye Riecks
BERTYE RIECKS (Age 98)
Entered into eternal peace in Georgetown, SC, October 15, 2006. Beloved  wife, mother and grandmother and great-grandmother. She
was born in West Texas and came to Washington, DC when she was 16 years old. She graduated from
Eastern High School and then
from Strayer Business  School. Married in 1930 to Charles Benjamin Riecks in DC, who predeceased her. Member of Eldbrooke Methodist
Church, where she taught Sunday School  and wrote and performed in plays.
She moved to Shannondale, WV in 1970, where she resided until a few months ago. She belonged to Shannondale Garden and Women's
Club, served as president of the AARP chapter in Charles Town, WV; member of Murill Hill Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday
school and served as president of their A.I.D.S. committee. She loved gardening and painting, and  spending time with her many friends
and family.
Survived by a daughter, Janet Somers and her husband, Captain David W.  Somers of Georgetown, SC, and a son, Arthur Wayne Riecks
and his wife,  Anita Riecks; grandson, David W. Grace and his wife, Carol and great-grandchildren, Bryan and Allyson of Manhattan Beach,
CA;  grandson,  Michael G. Grace of Blacksburg, VA; grandson, J. Christopher Grace and his  wife, Kelley Harwood and
great-grandchildren, Hannah, Julia and Austin of  Weston, MA; grandson, Gregory R. Grace and his wife, Mary and  grandchildren, Sarah
and Emily of DC; grandson, Benjamin S. Grace and his  wife, Rita of Rixeyville, VA; granddaughter, Cindy Grace and her husband,Mark
Tulenko and grandchildren, Brad, Tyler and Kassie of Charlottesville,  VA; granddaughter, Angela White and her husband, Aaron and
great-grandchildren, Benjamin and Aaron, Jr. of Virginia Beach, VA;  grandson, Gregory D. Grace of Estonia; grandson, Mario Grace and his
wife, Janet and great-grandchildren, Emily and Ethan of Falls Church, VA;  grandson, Stefano Grace and his wife, Rachel of Estonia;
granddaughter,   Atina Willems and her husband, Matthew and great-grandchildren, Morgan,  Emily and Georgiana of Brunswick, MD and
great-grandchildren, Heather and Brandon McKenrick of Hagerstown, MD. She has six nieces and two nephews  who are also very dear to
her.
Friends and relatives are cordially invited to attend a memorial, 1  p.m., November 4, 2006 at Murill Hill Methodist Church in Harpers Ferry,
