Albert V. Manilli, 80, who managed the meter-reading department
for Washington Gas Co., died after a heart attack July 12 at his
home in Wheaton. He also had chronic obstructive pulmonary
disease.
Mr. Manilli worked for the gas company his entire career. A native
Washingtonian, he graduated from Eastern High School in 1944.
He immediately enlisted in the Navy and served in the Pacific
theater during World War II. He was discharged two years later and
returned to Washington and went to work for the utility. He retired in
1994.
He was a member of the Quarter Century Club at the gas
company.
His first wife, Barbara Coffren Manilli, died in 1952; their son,
John Michael Manilli, died in 1950.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Corinne Manilli of
Wheaton; a son from his second marriage, Christian Manilli of
Bristow, Va.
A brother, Paul Manilli of Annapolis; and three grandchildren.
