Joan Cunningham

Joan Cunningham Foney, 60, a former executive secretary to the postmaster general, died of multiple sclerosis April 22 at Holy Cross Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Burtonsville. She lived in Silver Spring.
Mrs. Foney, who worked for the Postal Service for many years, retired in 1992.
She was a native Washingtonian and graduated from  Chamberlain Vocational High School in 1965. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Southeast Washington, where she served as secretary of the Sunday school and on the hospitality committee.
She enjoyed family vacations to local and national tourist attractions and also loved visiting a family farm in the Birmingham area.
Survivors include her husband of 35 years, Bill Foney of Silver Spring; two children, David Foney of Ewing, N.J., and Dana Foney of Eugene, Ore.; a sister, Mary Loveless of Washington; a brother, William Cunningham of Fayetteville, N.C.; and a granddaughter.
