| Joan Cunningham Foney, 60, a former executive secretary to the postmaster general, died of multiple sclerosis April 22 at Holy Cross Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Burtonsville. She lived in Silver Spring. |

| Mrs. Foney, who worked for the Postal Service for many years, retired in 1992. |

|
| She was a native Washingtonian and graduated from Chamberlain Vocational High School in 1965. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Southeast Washington, where she served as secretary of the Sunday school and on the hospitality committee. |
|
|
| She enjoyed family vacations to local and national tourist attractions and also loved visiting a family farm in the Birmingham area. |
|
|
| Survivors include her husband of 35 years, Bill Foney of Silver Spring; two children, David Foney of Ewing, N.J., and Dana Foney of Eugene, Ore.; a sister, Mary Loveless of Washington; a brother, William Cunningham of Fayetteville, N.C.; and a granddaughter. |
