Annie Ruth (Ann) Wrightson Degen, of Annapolis, died June 14,
2010.
She was born Nov. 28, 1933, in Spartanburg, S.C., to Samuel and
Louise Wrightson. The family moved to Washington, D.C., and Ann
grew up on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C. with her brothers,
Buddy and Philip Wrightson. She attended Chamberlain High
School, and at the age of 16, married John W. (Johnny) Degen Jr.
Ann is survived by her husband of 60 years, John William Degen Jr.;
her son, John William Degen III (Billy) and his wife, Patty; her
daughter, Vicki Lynn Rideout and her husband, Mark Rideout;
three grandchildren, Samantha, Amanda and John; her sister-in-law,
Shirley Reynolds; and her brother-in-law, Richard Reynolds.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 3 at
Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 65 Tarragon Lane,
Edgewater. Interment will be private.
Arrangements were handled by Fellows, Helfenbein & Newnam
Cremation and Funeral Care, P.A., Annapolis.
