| Robert Whitaker Kidwell, 90, a retired Washington area real estate appraiser and auctioneer, died of congestive heart failure March 10, 2006 at Holy Cross Hospital. He lived in Silver Spring. | ||||||
| Mr. Kidwell appraised commercial, residential and industrial properties during a 40-year career with Thomas J. Owen and Son Inc. in Washington. He retired from the firm as an executive vice president in 1979. | ||||||
| Mr. Kidwell was a past president of the D.C. chapter of the American Institute of Real Estate Appraisers and a former member of the Silver Spring Lions Club. | ||||||
| He was born in Yakima, Wash., and raised in the District, where he graduated from Central High School and Benjamin Franklin University. | ||||||
| He joined the Army during World War II and served as a staff sergeant in the Philippines. | ||||||
| His wife, Jacqueline Margaret Stancliff Kidwell, died in 2000 after 60 years of marriage. | ||||||
| Survivors include two sons, Wilson S. Kidwell of Gaithersburg and Robert C. Kidwell of Olney; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. | ||||||
