Richard A. Rau, 81, a former telephone installer for C&P Telephone Co., died of complications of dementia June 5 at Holy
Cross Hospital in Silver Spring.
Mr. Rau, a third-generation Washingtonian, attended Central High School until enlisting in the Navy during World War II. He
served on the USS Blackford in the Pacific.
After the war, he returned to Washington and worked for the phone company until his retirement in 1986.
Mr. Rau was a member of the Telecom Pioneers. He enjoyed watching movies and sports. He attended St. Andrews Catholic
Church in Silver Spring.
Survivors include a brother, William S. Rau of Takoma Park.
