Cynthia Landau, personnel supervisor

     Cynthia Landau, 96, who was a personnel supervisor at Raleigh’s men’s
clothing stores in Washington, died Dec. 22 at Washington Adventist Hospital
in Takoma Park. She was a Silver Spring resident.

     She died after a heart attack, said her son, Lee Landau.

     Cynthia Michaelson was born in Cincinnati and moved to the Washington
area in 1929. She graduated from
Central High School in 1933 and then
from Strayer Business College.

     In the 1940s, she was a partner with her father in B. Michaelson Jewelers
in Washington. She worked at Raleigh’s from 1956 until 1969 and was a
former treasurer of the credit union there.

     She was a member of B’nai Shalom of Olney, a Conservative synagogue.
Her husband of 55 years, Irwin S. Landau, died in 1998.

     Survivors include two children, Katherine Landau Cornell of Glen Ellyn,
Ill., and Lee E. Landau of Olney; and four granddaughters.
