The beautiful Barbara died peacefully in her sleep at 90 on December 12,
2010, at AgeSong at Laguna Grove in San Francisco.
Loving and loved mother of Leslie MoC+d of Santa Barbara, CA, Alison
Paolercio (Michael) of San Francisco, Paula Izumi (Yoshitsugu) of
Huntington, Long Island, NY and Ed MoC+d (Ginger) of Columbus, OH.
Proud and cherished grandmother of Taemi Izumi and Richard MoC+d.
Preceded in death by devoted husband of 45 years Irwin MoC+d, and adored
brother Richard Bardt.
Barbara was born in Washington DC. She was a graduate of Central
High School and attended Wilson Teachers College. She monitored English
language broadcasts for the War Dept during WWII, after which she and
Irwin moved to New York City and raised their family.
She proudly worked for the New York Times for 27 years in Classified
Advertising, and had a strong head for business. In her retirement, she
volunteered for SCORE and at Temple Beth Sholom in Queens, NY. In San
Francisco, her home for the last five years, she was an Experience Corps
volunteer at Paul Revere School.
Barbara was a talented and accomplished piano player. She had an innate
love of music that she shared as a docent at Carnegie Hall. She loved to dance
and was passionate about all things beautiful. In her final days, she taught us
about aging with dignity and grace. She will live on in our hearts.
Heartfelt thanks to the compassionate staff at Laguna Grove and
Pathways Hospice. Private funeral services and a celebration of her life were
held in New York on December 14, 2010.
Donations may be made in her memory to Carnegie Hall.
