Stephen Randall Holtzman, 63, a lawyer and insurance executive, died of cancer Aug. 17 at his home in Potomac.

Mr. Holtzman was born in the District and graduated from
 Calvin Coolidge High School in 1961. He received his undergraduate
degree from George Washington University in 1965 and law degree from American University in 1969.

He began his career in the insurance industry with his father, Max Holtzman, at Max Holtzman Inc. When his father retired, he
merged the company with Young and Simon to become Insurance One in Rockville. Some years later, the company was sold to
HRH, where Mr. Holtzman continued to work until his death.

Mr. Holtzman was a member of B'nai Israel Congregation, the Woodmont Country Club and the Progress Club, and he was
involved with a number of charitable organizations over the years. He enjoyed golf, playing cards and following Washington
sports teams, and he was a prolific doodler.

Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Susan Holtzman of Potomac; three children, Stacie Gould of Bethesda, Brian Holtzman of
Towson and Jeffrey Holtzman of Rockville; his mother, Elsie Holtzman of Bethesda; a sister, Karen Holtzman of the District, two
brothers, Mitchell Holtzman of New York City and Alan Holtzman of Bethesda; and two grandchildren.
