

Capt. MARY E. DONNELLY U.S. Navy (Ret.)
Passed away on July 13, 2011, in Arlington, VA. Mary was born
February 26, 1927, in New Haven, CT, to John and Catherine (Malley)
Donnelly.
Mary grew up in Washington, D.C., where she attended Coolidge
High School. Mary went on to graduate from George Washington
University, where she received a degree in Political Science.
After college, Mary was commissioned in the U.S. Navy, and was
one of the first women to be selected into the regular Navy. In the Navy,
she enjoyed a long and accomplished career with assignments in
Monterey, CA; New Orleans, LA; Newport, RI; Norfolk, VA; Great
Lakes, IL; and Washington, D.C., at both Capitol Hill and the Pentagon.
Mary was predeceased by her brother, John J. Donnelly; and her
sister, Kathleen M. Hicks; and is survived by her sister, Jane F. Murray
(Robert B.) of Daytona Beach, FL, and by many nieces and nephews.
Mary will be interred, with full military honors, at the Arlington
National Cemetery late in September, 2011.
