Kenneth Clifton Sheelor

Kenneth Clifton Sheelor, 76, a retired government accountant, church organist and teacher, died of cancer March 17 at Goodwin House in Alexandria, where he lived.
A native Washingtonian, he was a graduate of  Calvin Coolidge High School. He graduated from Randolph-Macon College in 1952. He taught English at Handley High School in Winchester and was the organist at Christ Episcopal Church in Winchester for the rest of the decade.
Mr. Sheelor moved to Wheaton in the early 1960s. He worked first for Peoples Drug Stores. In 1972, he was hired by the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corp., where he remained until his retirement in 1995.
He also played the organ for 32 years at St. Barnabas Episcopal Church in Annandale and at chapels at Goodwin House Alexandria and Baileys Crossroads. He was a member of the American Guild of Organists.
Survivors include a brother, Thomas L. Sheelor of Germantown; and a sister, Joy Sheelor Lyles of Alexandria.
