Mrs. Harriet Pauline Ross Dailey, 75 of Frederick, died suddenly on October 20, 2011 at the Frederick Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of Robert E. Dailey, Jr., whom she married June 2, 1956.
Born May 25, 1936 in Washington, D.C. she was the daughter of the late Robert B. and Harriet Smart Ross. Harriet was a member of the Frederick Presbyterian Church and the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter # 79, she was Past Honored Queen of Bethel #2 of the International Order of Job’s Daughters. She was a former Past President of the Frederick Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, with over 12,000 hours of service, a past member of the Venture Club of Frederick, and the Opti- Mrs. Club. In her early years she worked as a medical secretary at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, where she met her husband Bob.
She was co-owner of Robert E. Dailey & Son Funeral Homes, P.A., where she also worked for many years. She especially enjoyed spending time at her condo in Myrtle Beach, S.C., with her family.
She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother and will be missed by her many friends.
Surviving besides her loving husband, Bob, Jr. are four sons, Robert E. Dailey III and wife, Patty of New Market, Douglas Alan Dailey and wife, Valerie of Frederick, Gregory Scott Dailey and Debbie Wiley of Ocean City, and Stuart Ross Dailey and Wendy Webb of Frederick; grandchildren, Petty Officer 2nd class Garrett H. Dailey U.S Coast Guard and wife, Seaman Lisa Lemmer Dailey, U.S. Coast Guard, of Coos Bay, OR, Tori Dailey, Ali Dailey, Ashley Dailey, and Sarah Dailey all of Frederick, Robert E. “Robby” Dailey IV of New Market, Chad Scott of Montreal, Quebec, and Stephanie Barteck of Frederick; great-grandsons, Shayron Parker of Ocean City, and Gregory Alan Barteck of Frederick; half- brothers, Dan Ross and wife, Tamara of Rye, N.Y., Bruce Ross and wife, Margaret of Great Falls, VA, David Ross of Alexandria, VA; and a half- sister, Jennifer Gilder and husband, Craig of Alexandria, VA; step- mother, Pauline Ross of Reston, VA. Many nieces and nephews also survive. She will be remembered by her many friends including her Bridge Buddies, Joanne Gilden, Sadie Wiles Hoy, Joannie Hendrickson, and Joyce McGreevy.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Robert B. Ross and his wife, Diane; and her step-father, Joseph J. Olsavsky.
Harriet is at the Robert E. Dailey & Son Funeral Homes, P.A., 1201 North Market Street, Frederick, where the family will receive friends from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m., Sunday, October 23. Eastern Star Memorial Service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, October 23 at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, October 24 at the funeral home, with Rev. L. Sam Martz, officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Frederick.
