ELIZABETH E. BALLARD (Age 72)
Died on October 30, 2010 at her home in Leisure World, Leesburg, VA.
Born March 11, 1938 in Gilberton, PA to the late William M. and Eva
Mae Edwards, she and her family moved to Washington DC in 1941.
After graduating Coolidge High School and area business schools, she
held a number of management positions for Building Trade Associations,
retiring after 30 years as Executive Assistant to the President of the Metal
Trades Division, AFL-CIO.
She married in 1973 and moved to Arlington, VA. Following her
retirement she and her husband moved to Leesburg, VA.
She served as past member of and Honor Queen of the International
Order of Job's Daughters, member of numerous church choirs, member
of the Chapel at Leesburg, Leisure World Pet Owners Group, Gourmet
Club, Covenants and Activities committee, and Red Hatters.
Her gregarious personality and love for life was infectious and
unforgettable! She had unlimited generosity and determination in all her
passions including gardening, fashion, decorating, a love of Yorkies, food,
respect for tradition, travel, entertainment, the Redskins and was a
Hostess Extraordinaire!
The joys of her life were her husband of 35 years, William Foy Ballard,
deceased, his family, her sisters Ruth E. Wise, Silver Spring MD, Irene
E. Callbeck, Pasadena, MD and brother, William E. Edwards, deceased,
Bethesda MD, all their loving families and friends.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 13 at 1:30 p.m.
at the Chapel of the Clubhouse of Leisure World, 19375 Magnolia Grove
Square, Lansdowne, Va 20176.
