| Barbara Boren Watkins, 76, who worked for the Defense Department in the 1940s and 1950s and retired as manager of a military history typing pool, died July 20 at her home in New Smyrna Beach, Fla. She had Alzheimer's disease. |

| Mrs. Watkins was born in Valparaiso, Neb., and raised in Washington, where she was a graduate of Coolidge High School |
|
|
| She was a former president of the Junior Women's Club of Silver Spring and the Women's Club of Bethesda. |
|
|
| She moved to Florida from Bethesda in 1983. |
|
|
| Survivors include her husband of 58 years, James Watkins of New Smyrna Beach; four children, Bruce Watkins of Springfield, Brad Watkins of Damascus, Marcia Burroughs of Clarksburg and Stacey Watkins of Apopka, Fla.; five grandchildren; and two great-granddaughters. |
