Alec Lichtman

Alec Lichtman, 72, an engineer who worked for a defense contractor on the Trident missile system, died of lymphoma Dec. 10 at his home
in Silver Spring. Mr. Lichtman was leader of the mechanical engineering group at Vitro, where he worked for 34 years. He retired in 1994.
During his career, he worked on various missile systems.
He was born in Washington and graduated from  Coolidge High School and George Washington University, where he also received a
master's degree in engineering in 1963.
During the 1950s, Mr. Lichtman enjoyed racing MG cars. He took up rallycross racing in 1960 and was a member of an MG club that staged
events and races.
His marriages to Joanna Brown and Elizabeth Adams ended in divorce.
Survivors include his wife of 18 years, Virginia Throckmorton Lichtman of Silver Spring; a daughter from his first marriage, Michele Lichtman
of  Alexandria; two stepchildren, Carol Chapin of Huntington Beach, Calif., and Eric Holme of Gaithersburg; and six grandchildren.
