McCAFFREY’S WORLD
By
Bill McCaffrey

Let me start by wishing all you Fathers a “Happy Fathers Day” with a very special wish to Herbie “Biff” Jones former great boxer who also took up for the young kids
at Takoma swimming pool when the local bullies teased them.  Also “Happy Birthday” greetings to Alison Kapneck, Chuck McCaffrey and Montana McCaffrey.

Special prayers for Mel White and everyone on my prayer list for this weekend.

HARPO vs. SCOTT

Should we or should we not want Brandon Marshall for the Ravens, Marx says yes, who cares about the baggage he brings it’s more than all the baggage the porters
at BWI Thurgod Marshall airport handle during a day.  Scott says we don’t need any more off the field Raven happens.

Maybe one of the rooms at the castle can be made to look like a big Jail cell where the Ravens could hold team meetings.  Marshall is a great wide receiver but has
questionable off field skills.  How come Marx champion’s Marshall and diss’s Kobie Bryant?  It looks like both have had problems with women.  It sure surprised me
that the Baltimore moron Raven fans are so willing to get someone with so much off field problems.  Arizona wanted the same package that its reported the Ravens
are considering for Marshall, if it were my call Bouldin would have been my pick.

CAPITALS OVECHKIN NHL MVP

The most exciting NHL superstar is the Washington Capitals Alex Ovechkin has been named the NHL’s MVP as well he should be. That makes Ovechkin a back to
back winner.  He takes home the Hart Trophy (media’s MVP), the Lester B Pearson Award (players MVP), and the Maurice “Rocket” Richard Trophy (goals leader).
The Caps shouldn’t let Sergei Fedoror and Michael Nylander get away.  Bruce Boudreau has done a good job as Caps coach.  For more on the Caps check out Ed
Frankovic’s blog at WNST.net.

BASEBALL NEWS

Well Manny Acta is still managing the Washington Nationals, their young arms are keeping Acta alive.  Acta, Jerry Manuel and several other big league managers make
me wonder who selects them.

I hear the New York Mets are now more interested in Adam Dunn than Nick Johnson.

Look for the Orioles to move a pitcher or two in the very near future, also one Orioles position player to move, could it be Pie?  The Orioles looked decent against the
Braves and Mets.  Coming into this weekend the Orioles had 37 losses, second most in the American League and the Nationals 46 losses, worse in all of the majors.

Catch a BaySox, Blue Crab or Big Train game you’ll see more action and have more fun.

The Baltimore Orioles first baseman of the future Brandon Snyder has been moved from double A Bowie to triple A Norfolk.  At Bowie he led the Eastern League in
slugging percentage (.597) in OPS (1.098), was 3rd in doubles (19), second in RBI’s (45), and second in batting average (.343).  His replacement at Bowie will be Lee
Grozier who’s minor league career totals are (BA .259, HR 94, RBI 378).  Also being moved to Norfolk is pitcher Jake Arrieta and pitcher Tony Patton.

Former major league outfielder Mel Hall was sentenced to 45 years in jail he was convicted of raping a 12 year old girl.  The Chicago Cubs fired hitting coach Gerald
Perry and replaced him with Von Joshew.

“BRAVE NEW WORLD” FOR HALAMA

Blue Crabs Top Starting Pitcher John Halama Signs With MLB Organization Off Blue Crabs Roster For Second Straight Season

Southern Maryland Blue Crabs manager Butch Hobson has announced that the contract of left-handed starting pitcher John Halama has been purchased by the Atlanta
Braves.  Halama, who was signed by the Cleveland Indians in 2008 after making eight starts for Southern Maryland, made nine starts for the Blue Crabs this season
and posted an 8-1 record as the most dominant starter in the Atlantic League.  Halama already has Major League experience in nine seasons from 1998 through 2006.

Halama leaves the Blue Crabs for a second time after being named the Atlantic League’s Pitcher of the Month for games played in April and May.  His eight wins
currently lead the league, as do his 66.0 innings pitched.  On the ’09 campaign Halama has thrown four complete games total; three of the seven inning variety in
doubleheaders, and one nine-inning complete game May 28 at Long Island, where he allowed just seven hits and a run.  The lefty earned a winning decision in his first
seven starts of year, and has struck out 37 on the season while walking just 13.

Halama’s earned run average of 2.05 places him second in the Atlantic League at the time of his departure, a major contribution to Southern Maryland’s league best
3.34 ERA as a team and their 28-19 record.  The Blue Crabs currently sit atop the Liberty Division by four games over the second place Long Island Ducks with 23
games remaining in the first half.

Halama becomes the third Blue Crabs player this season to have his contract purchased by a Major League organization.  A day prior to his signing, right-handed
pitcher and closer Jim Ed Warden inked a deal with the New York Mets.  On May 26, right-handed pitcher Matt DeSalvo was picked up by the Tampa Bay Rays after
he pitched just five innings in one start on the road against the Camden Riversharks on May 23.

With a career Major League record of 56-48, Halama made his MLB debut with the Houston Astros in 1998, going 1-1 in six starts. Halama was then sent to the
Seattle Mariners in October of that year, as the player to be named later in the trade that sent hurler Randy Johnson from Seattle to Houston before the trade deadline
earlier that season. Halama would spend the next four seasons on the Mariners roster, amassing a 41-31 record in 130 appearances and 81 starts from 1999 through
2002.

Through free-agency, Halama would go on to suit up in the big leagues for the Oakland Athletics (2003), Tampa Bay Devil Rays (2004), and the Boston Red Sox and
Washington Nationals in 2005. Halama’s most recent season in the Major Leagues came in 2006, when he went 3-1 in 17 appearances and a start for the Baltimore
Orioles. Halama spent the 2007 season with the Long Island Ducks in the Atlantic League and made 26 starts, before transitioning to the expansion Blue Crabs for
2008. After sparkling in eight starts, going 4-1 with a microscopic 1.91 ERA, Halama was inked to a deal by the Cleveland Indians and assigned to the Triple-A Buffalo
Bisons of the International League. He would prove to be just as dependable for Buffalo, notching 16 starts with an 8-6 record and two complete games.

Halama has put together an impressive 129-90 record at all levels in his career. He was originally drafted by Houston in 1994, and made his professional debut that
summer in their organization at Class A Auburn in the New York-Penn League.  The lefty has 492 strikeouts at the Major League level.

MATUSZ MASTERPIECE SINKS READING

Left-hander Brian Matusz kicked off his Baysox career with a 6.0 inning, 10 strikeout gem as Bowie defeated Reading 4-1. Catcher Adam Donachie’s blasted a two-
run home run in the fifth inning to put the Baysox on top, as they improve to a season-high four games above .500 at 34-30.

Matusz retired the side in order to start the game before running into a jam in the second inning. Kevin Mahar drew a four-pitch walk to start the inning and Neil
Sellers followed with a single to put two on with nobody out. After a passed ball by Donachie advanced the runners into scoring position, Jeremy Slayden’s broken bat
single to left put the Phillies on top 1-0.

“The second inning I wasn’t getting ahead of hitters,” Matusz said. “It makes it tough when you put the leadoff hitter on base and they get a few little hits here and
there.”

The Baysox southpaw would get out of the second inning without allowing any further damage, retiring 12 in a row after the RBI single to Slayden. Seven of the final
nine hitters during that streak went down by way of the strikeout, as Matusz would allow only one hit after the second inning. The 22-year-old Matusz said he
experienced some nerves heading into his first start, which led to some mechanical issues early.

“I was trying to overthrow in the first two innings,” Matusz said of his adjustment after the second inning. “I feel like I’ve hit that groove when I’m able to throw
strikes when I need to, move it in and out with the fastball and use the off-speed pitches effectively.”

The Bowie offense looked to even the score in the fourth inning against Reading righty Mike Stutes. Third baseman Michael Costanzo shot a double the opposite way
into the left field corner to give the Baysox a chance with two outs. Second baseman Miguel Abreu followed with an RBI double to even the score at one apiece.
Abreu would finish the night 2-4, collecting his third straight multi-hit game and fourth in his last five contests.

With Matusz cruising, the Baysox offense knew they could take the wind out of the Reading sails with one swing of the bat. After a one out walk to center fielder
Danny Figueroa, Donachie provided that blow by crushing a 3-1 fastball over the secondary wall in left for a two-run blast. The home run was Donachie’s third of the
season and gave the Baysox a 3-1 advantage.

Donachie would strike again in the seventh, lacing an RBI single into center field in the seventh, extending the Baysox lead to three. In addition to being a veteran
presence to Matusz in his first start in Double-A, the Baysox catcher has gone 5-6 with two doubles, a home run and seven RBI over his last two games.

“I was in a little funk for a while,” Donachie said. “I spent some time in the cage with (Hitting Coach) Moe (Hill) and he got me squared away.”

Left-hander Chad Thall came on to replace Matusz in the seventh inning, retiring the side in order to earn his league leading 10th hold of the season. The Mexico, MO
native has not allowed an earned run in his last four appearances, lowering his ERA to 3.86 on the season.

Right-hander Ryohei Tanaka came on in the eighth, striking out four over the final two innings to earn his second save of the season. The four punchouts gave the
Baysox a season-high 14 for the night. Tanaka allowed two singles in the ninth, but struck Sellers and Slaydon to end the game. After signing from Japan in the off-
season, Tanaka has yet to allow an earned run in four appearances since joining the Baysox on June 5.

VALIDO CLEANS UP AS BAYSOX SWEEP

After seven and a half innings of shutout baseball, Baysox shortstop Robert Valido took out his broom and swept the Phillies back to Reading with a two-run home
run. Valido’s blast came with one out in the bottom of the eighth, giving the Baysox a 2-0 win and their fourth straight victory.

Tim Bascom tossed 7.0 shutout innings in his second start for the Baysox. The right-hander allowed three hits and walked two while striking out seven. After
collecting a 3.40 ERA in 12 appearances at Frederick, he has allowed one earned run through 14.0 innings in his first two starts at Bowie. His outing comes the night
after former Keys teammate Brian Matusz shut down Reading in his first start yesterday, leading to a friendly competition between the two.

“You always try to one-up the first guy every time,” Bascom said. “His start gives you more motivation to go out and do the same thing.”

Phillies starter Tyson Brummett matched Bascom pitch for pitch, tossing 7.0 shutout innings allowing four hits while walking two and striking out five. The Baysox
had runners on in every inning but the fifth, but were unable to capitalize and push a run across.

Reading did not advance a runner past first base until the fifth inning against Bascom, when Ozzie Chavez singled and stole second to put a runner in scoring position
with one out. Brad Harman followed with a one-hopper back to the mound, Bascom fielded it cleanly and Chavez was erased in a run down between second and third.
The Phillies would put a runner on second with one out in each of the next two innings, but the right-hander remained calm and stayed out of trouble before departing
after the seventh inning. Although neither starter factored in the decision, Bascom said the pitchers duel allowed him to take his game to the next level.

“It makes it easy to get your rhythm going and trying to go out there and do the same thing (Brummett) is doing,” Bascom said. “I told myself I was going to throw
more strikes and fill up the zone and it’s been helping me out a lot.”

The Baysox offense finally came through in the eighth, as Phillies right-hander Alex Concepcion came out of the bullpen to relieve Brummett. Catcher Guillermo
Rodriguez started the inning with a single to left. Left fielder Jonathan Tucker followed with a sacrifice bunt, moving pinch runner Danny Figueroa into scoring
position and setting the table for Valido. After getting ahead in the count 2-0, Valido sat on a changeup from Concepcion and got his pitch, driving it off the scoreboard
in left to put the Baysox out in front 2-0. Valido crossed home plate and pointed to the bleachers behind home plate, where his father and little sister were in town to
watch him bring home a victory for the Baysox.

“It was wonderful just to get a win,” Valido said. “It feels good, it’s a big win and hopefully we’ll continue to roll.”

Ryan Ouellette earned his third win of the season, working a perfect eighth inning while striking out one. The right-hander has been a stalwart in the Baysox bullpen
since being called up from Frederick on May 14, posting an ERA of 0.95 in 13 appearances and holding hitters to a .185 average.

“I’m keeping the ball down just trying to throw as many strikes as I can,” Ouellette said of his success so far this season. “Tonight I was comfortable and tried to get
ahead of guys and was able to get outs.”

Right-hander Josh Perrault struck out two of the three batters he faced in a perfect ninth inning to earn the save. His 11 saves this season ties him with Binghamton’s
Roy Merrit for third best in the Eastern League. It was the 17th straight game for Perrault in which he has not allowed an earned run, a season-high for Baysox
pitchers this season.

The Baysox improve to 35-30 on the season, 9.0 games back of Southern Division leader Akron.

SEVEN SOUTHERN MARYLAND BLUE CRABS HEADED TO ALL-STAR GAME

Ryan Bicondoa, Eric Crozier, Travis Garcia, Matt Hensley, Mike Just, Jeremy Owens
and James Shanks will represent the Blue Crabs in the Atlantic League All-Star Game.

The Southern Maryland Blue Crabs will send five position players and two pitchers to Newark, N.J. to play for the Liberty Division in the Atlantic League All-Star
Game held at Bears & Eagles Riverfront Stadium, the home of the Newark Bears, on Tuesday, June 23, 2009.

Ryan Bicondoa is the lone starting pitcher for the Blue Crabs to make the All-Star team. This will be Bicondoa’s second time representing the Blue Crabs in the All-Star
Game as he was selected in 2008 as well.  At the time of his selection in nine starts, Bicondoa had a complete game, seven quality starts and 27 strikeouts, and the
Blue Crabs posted a 7-2 record in those starts.

Newly appointed Blue Crabs closer Matt Hensley will make a well-deserved appearance in the All-Star Game. At the time of his selection Hensley stood at 4-1 on the
season with an outstanding ERA of 0.84 with two saves in 16 appearances.  In his first 21.1 innings pitched, Hensley racked up 20 strikeouts and only two runs
against. Hensley has proved almost unhittable as batters have posted just a .182 average against him.

Blue Crabs captain and centerfielder Jeremy Owens will make his first appearance as a Blue Crab in the All-Star Game after an outstanding start to the season. Owens
batted .256 in his first 49 games this season and is currently tied for second in the Atlantic League with 10 home runs. Owens leads the Blue Crabs with six stolen
bases and has 24 walks, boosting his on-base percentage to .349.

Shortstop Travis Garcia has been a threat all year in the middle of the Blue Crabs lineup and will be representing Southern Maryland as part of the Liberty Division as
well. At the time of his selection Garcia was batting .330, fourth best in the Atlantic League and best among the Blue Crabs. Garcia also has nine home runs and 37
RBI.

James Shanks has been a cornerstone in the outfield this season for the Blue Crabs as well as at the plate, earning him his first All-Star Game selection in his second
season as a Crab. At the time of his selection, Shanks sports a .315 average on the season, with a team high 39 RBI. Shanks has six homers on the season as well and
has also demonstrated his speed with three triples.

Blue Crabs first baseman Eric Crozier was selected after an outstanding first half of the season at the plate. As of June 16, Crozier leads the Blue Crabs in slugging (.
550) in 49 games. He is batting .316 on the season with eight home runs and 24 RBI. Crozier leads the team with 25 walks and has two triples and four stolen bases.

Second baseman Mike Just completes the list of Blue Crabs representing the Liberty Division. While sometimes overlooked, he is a quality selection in the field and at
the plate. In his first 94 at bats, Just hit .319 with one home run and 12 RBI. He also had 11 walks, bringing his on-base percentage to .394, a team high.

The Liberty Division All-Stars (players from the Bridgeport Bluefish, Camden Riversharks, Long Island Ducks and Southern Maryland Blue Crabs) will take on the
Freedom Division All-Stars (players from the Lancaster Barnstormers, Newark Bears, Somerset Patriots and York Revolution) at Riverfront Stadium in Newark on
June 23 in a 7:35 p.m. exhibition.  With seven players selected, the Blue Crabs have the most of any team in the Liberty Division, and tied Somerset for the most
players from one team.  Both Southern Maryland and Somerset are currently in first place in their respective divisions.

Former Blue Crabs starting pitcher John Halama and closer Jim Ed Warden would have been landslide selections to this year’s Liberty Division All-Star team as well if
their contracts had not been purchased by Major League clubs.  Warden was signed by the New York Mets on June 12, and Halama departed for the Atlanta Braves
organization a day later on June 13.  Warden departed as the league leader in saves with 13, and Halama left with an Atlantic League high eight wins, in nine starts.

For more information on the 2009 All-Star Game, and to purchase tickets, please visit the Newark Bears online at NewarkBears.com.  For the full All-Star rosters, visit
the Atlantic League’s official website, AtlanticLeague.com.  The Atlantic League All-Star teams are voted on by a combination of fans, media, managers and coaches,
team front office personnel and league officials

REGENCY FURNITURE STADIUM HOSTING MILITARY ALL-STAR GAME

United States Military All-Stars Will Take On Latin American All-Stars
In Exhibition Game Benefitting Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing On July 11

The Southern Maryland Blue Crabs are hosting a marquee baseball event this summer at Regency Furniture Stadium to benefit a terrific cause.  On July 11, the United
States Military All-Stars Baseball team will play an exhibition game in the shadow of the nation’s capital in Waldorf, Maryland, to raise funds for Project Healing
Waters Fly Fishing.

Project Healing Waters is dedicated to the physical and emotional rehabilitation of disabled active duty military personnel and veterans through fly fishing and fly tying
educations and outings.  The great work Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing has done and the effect it’s had has been featured multiple times on a national stage,
including CNN and ESPN’s Outside The Lines news magazine program.

“Speaking for the Project Healing Waters organization, we are most grateful for the enthusiastic support that the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs have extended to our
project by hosting this July 11 benefit ballgame,” said President Ed Nicholson, a retired Navy Captain.

Tickets to the game are $8.00 apiece, with $4.00 from every ticket going directly to the cause of Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing.  However, tickets are FREE for
active duty military and their dependents with valid identification.  A spectacular fireworks show will follow the game.

The U.S. Military All-Stars and the “Red, White, and Blue Tour” are currently celebrating their 20th season by visiting over 40 states and eight countries, competing
against nearly 100 professional and summer collegiate teams, including the Boston Red Sox earlier this spring.

The team is comprised of baseball players serving in the Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Marines, National Guard and Navy, and will take on the Latin American All-
Stars under the lights at Regency Furniture Stadium.  First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m. and the gates at the Charles County ballpark will open at 5:30 p.m. for this
event.

A member of the U.S. Military team is right-handed pitcher PFC Andrew Chung, a native of Gaithersburg, Maryland.  Chung is currently serving in the United States
Air Force and played NCAA Division I baseball in the Atlantic Coast Conference at the University of Maryland in College Park, a short drive or a long fly ball from
Southern Maryland.

It’s fitting that there is a Marylander on the U.S. Military All-Stars team, considering Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing, despite its nationally renowned reputation, has
such strong local ties.

“When our organization incorporated as a nonprofit we did it in Maryland and chose our headquarters to be in La Plata.  We are now a national organization with over
70 programs in operation at VA hospitals and other military posts, but our roots remain here in this area – even more reason that we are so excited about the July 11
benefit game.  We hope to see a packed ballpark!” said Ed Nicholson.

Like Andrew Chung, all members of the U.S. Military All-Stars are currently serving in the armed forces. The players are given some reprieve of their duties in order
to be a part of the “Red, White, and Blue Tour” this season.

The U.S. Military All-Stars also have one of the most popular and unique fashions in baseball today. The team dons camouflage uniforms and hats that carry the
military spirit with them in every game they play.

To purchase tickets, or for more information, call the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs at 301-638-9788, or visit SOMDBlueCrabs.com or USMilitaryAllStars.us.  For

The mission of Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing, Inc. is dedicated to the physical and emotional rehabilitation of disabled active duty military personnel and veterans
through fly fishing and fly tying education and outings.

BIG TIME COLLEGE ALL-STAR GAME SET FOR JULY 15

The Stars From The Cal Ripken Sr. Collegiate Baseball League Will Take On The Top Players From The Valley Baseball League At Regency Furniture Stadium

The prospects of tomorrow are coming to Regency Furniture Stadium on Wednesday, July 15! That evening the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs host the All-Stars of
the Cal Ripken Sr. Collegiate Baseball League, as they take on the All-Stars from the Valley Baseball League at 7:05 p.m. Admission to the game is FREE. The game
will be televised LIVE on MASN, the cable home of the Baltimore Orioles and Washington Nationals.

The two leagues are summer collegiate circuits that use wood bats and play in June and July while the players are on break from school. The rosters of the teams in
the leagues are comprised of college baseball players from all over the country, including several Division I prospects. The leagues function as a way for college
players to prepare for a professional career by playing against a high level of competition during the summer months, as they make the transition from playing in
games with aluminum bats to wood bats. There are several such summer leagues around the country, and many of the players who utilize them are drafted by Major
League organizations, and many more sign free agent contracts in professional baseball.

The Cal Ripken Senior Collegiate Baseball League was founded in 2005, and is named after former Baltimore Orioles manager and father of Orioles great Cal Ripken Jr.
Its teams are located throughout Maryland and Virginia, and include the Alexandria Aces, Bethesda Big Train, College Park Bombers, Herndon Braves, Maryland
Redbirds, Rockville Express, Silver Spring-Takoma Thunderbolts and Youse’s Orioles.

The Valley Baseball League, which is a neighboring league located throughout the Shenandoah Valley in Virginia, includes the Covington Lumberjacks, Fauquier
Gators, Front Royal Cardinals, Harrisonburg Turks, Haymarket Senators, Luray Wranglers, New Market Rebels, Rockbridge Rapids, Staunton Braves, Waynesboro
Generals, Winchester Royals and the Woodstock River Bandits.

Pitchers Joe Smith and Brett Cecil were the first Ripken League alums to reach the Majors. Smith made his big league debut with the New York Mets in 2007, and
currently plays for the Cleveland Indians. Cecil made his MLB debut earlier this season with the Toronto Blue Jays.

Notable Valley League alumni currently playing in the Major Leagues include David Eckstein, Brandon Inge, Mike Lowell and Juan Pierre among several others. The
Valley League has also produced current Orioles Aubrey Huff and Luke Scott.

No tickets are required to attend the game. The night’s festivities will begin with a home-run derby at 5:30 p.m., with the game starting at 7:05. The gates at Regency
Furniture Stadium will open at 4:30 p.m.

Camden Riversharks @ Southern Maryland Blue Crabs, game postponed by rain

Regency Furniture Stadium in Waldorf, Maryland

Due to a drainage problem resulting from heavy rains in Southern Maryland on Thursday, the June 18 Blue Crabs home game at Regency Furniture Stadium against
the Camden Riversharks has been postponed.

Fans holding tickets to tonight's game may exchange them for tickets to a future home game this season, based on availability. The Blue Crabs have 41 games left this
summer at Regency Furniture Stadium.

A make-up date for the game is to be announced. The game was scheduled to be the last of a four-game series, and was Camden's only visit to Southern Maryland in
the Atlantic League's first half. The Blue Crabs were victorious in the first three games of the set.

The Blue Crabs will be in action next on Friday, June 19 in Bridgewater, New Jersey at TD Bank Ballpark to open a three-game weekend series against the Somerset
Patriots. Both teams are in first place in their respective divisions. It is the first visit for the Blue Crabs to Somerset this season.

WE GET LETTERS……

Bill,
Wondering if John Gus Harris was related to the Harris who owned the Stanton Grill at 5th and Mass where I spent a great deal of my time as a teenager and met my
husband there. Pete Harris, the brother,
owned the Lincoln Park Grill. I remember Jack Rowes but was never there. I also remember the Camden Tavern at 13th & H Sts NE where there was a fight every
Sat night. Also remember the Kavakos Club at 8th & H Sts NE where my girlfriends Annabell & Shirley & I would go into the club on the way home from Stuart Jr.
High and Bill Kavakos would play the jukebox and let us dance (club was not open in daytime). Little did I know I'd wind up marrying Bill's cousin... Wouldn't go in
there anymore after the janitor mistook me for Blaze Star who was appearing there at the time and I was mortified.
Marlene

Marlene,
Good report, those were the days.
Bill

Bill,
There was a faint hope for a big road win in the Big Apple tonight…but there was never any chance of it because Actless the Predictable can never make an in game
Gut Instinct decision to maybe let a deserving Martis win his own well pitched game.  Actless has NO guts and NO instincts.
Danny

Danny,
They say he managed well in Yankee Stadium.
Bill

Folks,
Jack Nimitz, class of 1948, a jazz baritone saxophonist who played in the Woody Herman and Stan Kenton big bands and in the group "Supersax" died June 10 at his
home in suburban Los Angeles.  Many of you should remember his mother and fathers DGS (district grocery store) at 16th street and good hope road.  Jack
established himself as a first rank studio musician for scores of film soundtracks and recording sessions.  He also played with such jazz luminaries as Benny Carter,
Gerald Wilson and the lighthouse all stars.
Fred Plummer

Fred,
Thanks for the information though sad.
Bill
