| William Arthur Fain, 76, a former shoe salesman who later owned a limousine service, died July 18 of congestive heart failure at Southern Maryland Hospital Center. He had lived in Camp Springs for 40 years. |

| Mr. Fain was born in Oklahoma City and grew up in Washington. After graduating from Anacostia High School, he served in the Air Force for 14 years. |
|
| In about 1970, he joined Hahn Shoes and became a top salesman at the company's store in Marlow Heights. During his 20-year career with Hahn, he was a district manager and warehouse manager. |
|
| In 1989, Mr. Fain was a founding partner, with Ali Eshgipour and Bahman Zohary, of Majestic Limousine Service. He retired a year ago. |
|
|
| Mr. Fain was exalted ruler of Elks Lodge 2332 in Marlow Heights in the 1970s and led the lodge's charitable efforts. |
|
|
| He enjoyed following the Washington Redskins and his children's activities in sports, music and school. |
|
|
| His marriage to Jean Fain ended in divorce. |
|
|
| Mr. Fain and his second wife, Pamela Fain, raised a child, Al Yates, as a son in their home. |
|
|
| In addition to Yates and Mr. Fain's wife of 29 years, both of Camp Springs, survivors include two children from his first marriage, Kathy Fain Brock and William A. Fain Jr., both of Tucson; and four grandchildren. |
