Phyllis Ann Darmstead Barefoot

Phyllis A. Barefoot, 82, a keypunch operator in the registration office at
the University of Maryland during the 1970s, died May 22 at Washington
County Hospital in Hagerstown. She had pneumonia.
Before joining U-Md., Mrs. Barefoot worked in the cafeteria at High
Point High School in Beltsville.
Phyllis Ann Darmstead was a native Washingtonian and a 1945 graduate
of Anacostia High School.
She was a member of the Virginia Avenue Baptist Church in Hagerstown.
A daughter, Kathy B. Canavan, died in 2004.
Survivors include her husband of 65 years, Dale W. Barefoot of
Hagerstown; three daughters, Paula J. Demerer of Scranton, Pa., Susan
B. McKown of Virginia Beach and Lori B. Carl of Greenbelt; a sister,
Janice Foreman of Leesburg; four grandchildren; and one
great-granddaughter.
