| Millicent M. "Penny" Ichord, 77, a volunteer and former government secretary who was the widow of Rep. Richard H. Ichord (D-Mo.), died of cancer Nov. 11 at a nursing home in Gainesville. |

| In the 1950s and '60s, Mrs. Ichord worked for the Agriculture Department and on Capitol Hill. She also did modeling work for department stores in Washington. |
|
|
| After her marriage to Ichord in 1967, Mrs. Ichord lived primarily in Fort Washington but traveled extensively to Missouri to help with her husband's campaigns. He died in 1992. |
|
|
| She was a docent at Mattawoman Creek Art Center in Marbury and a member of Tantallon Country Club in Fort Washington, the International Club, the Congressional Wives Club and the Surratt Society. |
|

| Mrs. Ichord was born in Wellesley, Mass., and grew up in Washington, where she graduated from Anacostia High School in 1947. As a young woman, she studied art and entomology at what was then Vermont Junior College. |
|

| Her marriage to her first husband, David C. Koch, ended in divorce. |
|
|
| Survivors include a daughter from her first marriage, Kylene White of Woodbridge; and two granddaughters. |
