L. Wayne Stevens, 69, a printer at District Creative Printing in Upper Marlboro who retired in 2006, died March 26 at
Mandarin Chesapeake Hospice in Harwood, Md., of a brain tumor. He had been a resident of Huntingtown, Md., since
1989.
Leonard Wayne Stevens was a native Washingtonian and a 1958 graduate of Anacostia High School. He served in
the Coast Guard Reserve from 1958 until 1965.
After high school, he became one of the first employees at Peake Printers, now in Cheverly. Later, he worked at Master
Print in Newington and S&S Graphics in Laurel.
He was a member of the Calvert County Elks Lodge in Prince Frederick.
His marriage to Judith Stevens ended in divorce. His wife of six years, Sue Heflin Stevens, died in 1994.
Survivors include his wife of seven years, Cheryl McKenney Stevens of Huntingtown; three children from his first
marriage, Christopher Stevens of Annapolis, Connie Canfield of Mechanicsville, Md., and Craig Stevens of Laurel; three
stepchildren, Jennifer Marshall of Newtown, Pa., Joanne Marshall of Baltimore and Jordan Marshall of New Hope, Pa.; a
brother, Herbert Stevens of Dade City, Fla.; a sister, Suzanne Morrison of Silver Spring; and six grandchildren.
